FULL PREVIEW HERE Where to authors get their ideas? Do they come from their experience? Do they hear about it at a dinner party? Is it something that has always intrigued them? Or did the idea ferment and morph from signs sent to them from the universal cosmos? I, me, my family are expecting our first grandchild. My baby is having a baby. As a working artist, I've been painting birds for several years. Perhaps painting a book about mothers and father birds building their nests and nurturing their eggs was a natural thought progression. With artistic license as my center, the integrity of the birds and their nesting ground had to be maintained. Ten birds, familiar and recognizable, would be featured.
But how to keep the nests interesting and unique, and the book relevant, fun and educational. Not all nests are made of twigs and in trees. Additionally, I decided that the clutches were to increase incrementally from 1-10 to engage young readers. Do birds lay 10 eggs? Where do chickadees nest? I had some research to do. Stay tuned.
