FULL PREVIEW HERE So, I've decided I was going to do another book! It was going to be about familiar birds and their nests and their eggs. To make the book a little more engaging, the clutch in each nest was to increase incrementally from 1-10. Did birds actually lay 10 eggs? It was imperative that in allowing for artistic license, the book was based on fact, and maintained the integrity of the chosen birds and their nesting habits. Many birds have clutches of 4 or 5, but only a select have clutches of 8-10. It was visually important that the nests didn't all look the same. Uniqueness and differences were to be highlighted to make the book interesting, fun, and educational. Choosing the specific birds was an enjoyable learning curve and involved a lot of research. Clutch size, nest, and nesting grounds were all considerations. Once the birds were decided upon, it was time to paint. I loved this part of the process. Next time: Choosing colours and page composition Nesting Grounds is available on Amazon.ca
